Avatar is the only commercial sailing Trimaran in the Islands. What does this mean for you? Minimal lean while sailing, maximum deck space with nets for sun baking. You can soak up the stunning world heritage listed Whitsunday Islands and fringing Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, while taking in the sun’s rejuvenating rays, never feeling overcrowded. Just the way it’s meant to be.

Avatar caters to guests of all ages. She sleeps 26 guests and 3 crew in a mixture of open plan bunks and private doubles. All meals are freshly prepared on board and include: spaghetti Bolognese, beef tacos, fresh meats, salads, breads, fruits, dips and crackers plus loads more! You won’t go hungry!

Avatar Whitsundays is truly a sailing specialist. 2-day 2-night tours of the Whitsunday Islands can include: – Whitehaven Beach – Hook Island – Hayman Island – Border Island and Whitsunday Island

  • BYO alcohol (no hard liquor or goon allowed – pre-mixed cans ok).
  • Fire Wood ($15 per bag) can be purchased at the safety briefing from Freedom Hostel.
  • Optional Vehicle Damage Liability Reduction  – see below for options:
    • No Cover – 100% liability for any damage caused
    • Reduce Excess options: $25 to reduce to $1,000 excess or $50 to reduce to $500 excess.
    • All passengers will get a an email 3 – 7 day prior to the tour departure, here they can complete a pre check-in form and purchase the Optional Vehicle Damage Liability Reduction if they choose too.
  • Small bags ONLY (we have limited space in the vehicles – bring along your larger bags to the morning safety briefing and we can store them for you free of charge at Freedom Hostel for the duration of your tour).
  • Warm clothes for night time.

  • Sun lotion and insect repellent.
  • Flashlight.
  • Camera / phone / Portable Speaker (please note there are limited options for charging these devices on the island).
  • Baby wipes
  • If you would like to take alcohol to Fraser Island you will need to bring this with you, no glass can be taken to the island and we also do not allow hard liquor or goon. Pre mixed cans are ok, however please ensure all spirits are decanted into plastic bottles before you arrive for the safety briefing.

Day 1

Depart Rainbow Beach The morning starts bright & early with our compulsory tour briefing at 7AM sharp at Freedom Hostel, to receive comprehensive information to prepare you for this exciting journey. Here you will be placed into groups and have the opportunity to organise luggage storage. You will also be taught how to drive safely on Fraser Island ahead of your big adventure!

Day 2

K’gari (Fraser Island) The day begins with a quick breakfast to fuel your busiest day on K’gari (Fraser Island)! First stop is Eli Creek, a beautifully clear creek perfect for a relaxing swim. Travelling north, stop at Maheno Shipwreck for a photo opportunity and a short history lesson about this famous K’gari (Fraser Island) icon before continuing on to Indian Head, K’gari’s (Fraser Island) highest point. From here you may be lucky enough to see whales and sharks in the ocean before travelling to Champagne Pools for a dip. Lunch is served at either Maheno Shipwreck or Champagne Pools on Day 2 depending on time constraints, safety and beauty. In the afternoon, travel back to camp for dinner and drinks.

Day 3

Return to Rainbow Beach Start with breakfast before cleaning and disassembling your campsite. Once packed up, you’ll drive to the beginning of the Lake Wabby walk where you’ll stride through the dunes to find a tropical paradise! Lunch follows your trip to Lake Wabby before you begin the drive down the beach and back to the barge. Once arrived on the mainland, head to the 4WD shed where you can unpack and quickly clean the cars. You will return to Freedom Hostel between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
