Step aboard the legendary Derwent Hunter and learn about the maritime cultural heritage and history of Queensland whilst exploring the bays and Islands of the Whitsundays until sunset and witness the beauty of the twilight.
SLIP INTO SUNSET AND TURN ON THE TWILIGHT ON A TALL SHIP
We are excited to bring you a lazy traditional Tallship experience each afternoon, slipping into the sunset and twilight on the beautiful Tallship DERWENT HUNTER.
Taking it easy, we may only put up a stay sail whilst you learn about the Maritime heritage and history of Cape Yorks Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and South Sea Islander people and their tales of pearling, blackbirding, missionaries and pirates and the story of Australia’s worst maritime disaster that destroyed a pearling fleet and killed more than 300 crew. On our way back into Port you will see the view of the legendary sunset, followed by twilight colours of Airlie Beach.
Tours will depart each afternoon at approximately 1645 hours (4.45pm), and undertake a short traditional sail out to the bays of Airlie Beach before shortening sails and opening the bar. Arriving back just before last light (end of the twilight), you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the evening ashore. (Currently around 6.45pm)
